just logged and there are no pics or ads - no sidebar with SR updates or bottom line with link to this forum or to list product?
wtf ar we gettin hacked or just an update that nobody bothered to mention AGAIN!! ?

I admit I get nervous just when it times out. I was also thinking tonight that the best way to keep up is to log into the forums every single day. Now, while I did that to get learnt, so to speak, now I think I need to do it to stay learnt. Would suck to take a break, and come back to utter chaos.

Right now on the SR main page I'm noticing that the pictures and their listing titles aren't matching up and at the bottom it says "community forums (offline)." I hope these shenanigans are no cause for alarm.

I'd PM'd Customer Support about the images issue, and was told they were tweaking the front page. I got a follow up that said it's all fixed up now.
And indeed, the front page now appears to be acting like a well behaved front page should. 8)

Don't say they.
The thing about a tor hidden service, is to be truly secure, only one person can have the keys to the kingdom.
SR may have folks working for him coding bits and pieces, but it's a one man job putting in changes, doing maintenance, upgrading hardware and software, and doing all he does to keep everyone as safe as possible.
You might consider allowing for the fact his average day is probably 7 hours too short already.
I don't envy him his workload and pressures at all.

Isn't this sub-forum for discussing the Silk Road? He/she had something to discuss about it, specifically something that bothered him/her so where does he/she go? To the websites forum's of course, because that's what forum's are for.
I've seen some really bizarre stuff on the front page in the last few day's, mostly just of incorrectly linked images (weed listing with a pic of shrooms, thought I was high), but didn't even know they warned us before updates period lol. I just thought they did em whenever and when they did, the sites down and that's all folks ... time to wait, that's all you have left.
VJ what happens when some dickface entity has the king under surveillance from the day of construction of his kingdom and just haven't yet decided to regicide the monarchy and steal all the kings shit, including the key to his kingdom they just stormed? I'm not too worried, but I mean you always gotta keep your guard up (haha, ok ok, enough with this Victorian era shit) and not just emphatically rely on TOR to protect your electronic activity.

I'd hope that the operator had a plan a little more advanced for if LE made a visit that wouldn't allow them to take it over like that. Actually, I imagine it not even being in his actual possession; I'd probably put it up, encrypted, in one of those server clouds and then only ever access it via Tor. Payment might be a little difficult, but perhaps one of them accepts BTC as a payment method, in which case he would be golden.

pretty sure we don't get advance notice of updates/maintenance etc. because that would make it easier for attackers to determine where the server is hosted or get other details about it.
and yeah, there's no fuckin way the SR server is located in SR's bedroom or anything silly like that. you guys do know that there are many companies in less than scrupulous countries who do "no questions asked" server hosting, right? SR is likely hosted in some country that hates the US and wouldn't cooperate with them, like Pakistan or the DRC or something.

Sure it is and a reasonable title for such a thread might have been "front page broken?" or something like that. Immediately jumping to "SR Compromised" especially given recent changes and outages seems a teeny-weeny bit premature, no?
Not jumping to conclusions is as much a part of maintaining security as reacting to a legit threat.
